Secret Commands
Using a keyboard, press these key combinations:
T+H+0, activates a ‘god-like’ mode that gives you high stats and money, enables all spells, gives you every item, and teleports you back to camp.
T+H+C, will teleport you back to camp.
T+H+R, restarts the current section you are in.
T+H+F, will teleport you to the final battle of the game with Felicia and Ryon.
Using A Controller
While not extensively tested, you can play Norman’s Quest For Hoomanity with a Xbox controller for PC. Software like JoyToKey can also be used to map another controller to the keys, but you run the risk of compatibility issues doing this.
Double Jumping
Norman can double jump in the game, and you can control his movement in mid-air. This will become important when avoiding projectiles, traps and reaching things that don’t seem possible at first glance.
TIP: If there’s a good item over spikes, water or something similar, jump towards it to get it, then jump back to where you were originally!
Rolling Is Key
When Norman is rolling, he is invulnerable to almost every trap and enemy in the game. His roll is also faster then his running speed, so it can be used to escape enemies that chase you. In many instances, rolling to your desired location is far safer and quicker compared to running.
But, you need to master the length of the roll. When you first do it, you may end up rolling into a trap or an enemy, which defeats its benefit. Once you’ve got that down, things will become a lot easier for you!
Mid-Air Sword Strikes Hit Left And Right
If you use your sword in mid-air, Norman will do a spinning strike that attacks enemies to the left and right of him. You can perform this maneuver until Norman lands on the ground.
TIP: If you have enemies surrounding you, jump straight up and before you land attack with your sword. You’ll end up hitting enemies on both sides, which is more effective!
Take Advantage After Getting Hit
When Norman takes damage, he becomes temporarily invulnerable. This will be indicated by him flashing. You can use this to your advantage in certain fights. For example, the bees in the battle with Vujeen do far less damage. So, if you get trapped by Vujeen and expect to be hit, try to get hit by one of the bees instead!
Don’t Save Your Fat Stacks!
You don’t come upon shops often, and you lose a small percentage of fat stacks every time Norman dies. So, it makes sense to purchase upgrades and items as soon as you can.
Stock Up On Arrows Early!
At some point in the game, arrows will become a lot more expensive. So, buy them now and save some fat stacks!
Many Areas Spawn Enemies, So Level Up!
Certain bosses or areas may seem to hard for you at first. Find areas where enemies appear to spawn and hang around there to level up some of your attributes.
Use Keys Wisely!
It may seem like an easy decision to use keys on any treasure chest you find, but keep in mind the Flooded Dungeon is chock full of locked doors. You don’t want to get deep in, only to have to backtrack because you ran out of keys!
Norman Levels Up Based On How You Play
If you tend to favor Norman’s sword in battle, you’ll notice the corresponding stat modifier POW will improve. This gets added to your damage on every strike. Or, if you roll and jump a lot around enemies, your DEF will improve, making you take less damage. Use magic a lot? The MAG modifier will increase your magic damage over time.
Don’t Forget To Gamble Candy!
You can use candy you find in the game to get mystery items from Candy Gambler, The Wizard. If you’re lucky, you may get a gem or two, which increases your fat stacks by a lot! So, before you think you can’t afford something, make sure to gamble all your candy!
Upgrade Your Weapons And Armor Early!
While expensive, upgrading your sword, bow or armor act as MULTIPLIERS to your stats. A weapon upgraded just ONCE can DOUBLE its damage. Armor upgraded just ONCE can HALF damage received. So, it can make a big difference!
You Can Change The Game Difficulty In Real Time.
Unlike other games, in Norman’s Quest For Hoomanity you can change the difficulty at will. Apart from certain areas where the options menu is disabled, you can lower the difficulty to make it easier to get past a boss or hard area.
Remember To Pick Up Arrows Shot Into Walls!
Even though a sign early on in the game tells you this, a lot of players may forget that they can pick up the arrows thatget stuck in walls. These add up over time, and can save from ending up out of arrows at the wrong time!
Try To Stay Well Rounded!
If you heavily favor a certain style of play, you may encounter major obstacles in the game later. The stone golem, for example, is immune to all physical attacks. So, if you have low level magic, or worse, never bought spells, this will prove difficult to impossible to beat until you improve that skill!
